Color mixing, one of the most important elements in creating luminous paintings, is taught in oils, watercolors, pastel, acrylics, and gouache (Ms. Willis highlights gouache because she is the only noted artist who offers instruction in that medium in her workshops). You’ll study composition, how to begin a painting, values, how to solve the many problems that arise during the painting process, glazing and "color temperature" (which colors advance, which recede- knowledge that is important in creating three dimensional work.
